Random quote
The common genetic element with the largest known effect on propensity for violence is the Y chromosome, but we don’t take its presence as exculpatory.

Kevin J. Mitchell (associate professor at Trinity College, Dublin)

  1. Interesting. The quote seems more accusatory than exculpatory, however. The evil men do is legend. That done by women is more defensive and retaliatory.
    That is how things are...

  2. Mitchell wanted to say that mental diseases are often used as an excuse, for example in court, but that nobody mentions that being a man is seen as an excuse. But I think that without this context, the quote is even more striking. Then my question is, must men be treated because of their "mental disease", just because having an Y chromosome is a symptom that he can be dangerous?

  3. I don't think chromosomal inheritance is more than genetic inheritance. Fact is, men rule the world, have ruled the world for all the ages of man. As men, we are given credit for most everything---the rest? We seize credit for that due to the previous notion(s) around who/whom we must be. So, the substance of male domination of things is partly traditional---partly historical---partly genetic.
Why was Jesus the "son of God", rather than, the daughter? Because the latter designation would have run contrary to what I have called contextual reality, (among other things). Here, in America, we have an imbecile for a leader. I did not, do not, support that reality. Not much I can do now Say what you wish: I say Joseph was the dad.I never believed in immaculate conception. I guess that is why I am atheist. Warmest s wishes!

    1. One way or the other, man-kind and not just humankind is responsible for much what has happened and is happening in the world. And, of course, male domination is not only genetically determined, but stressing the genetic aspect sometimes makes sense, for instance in order to show that we need more XX-chromosomes among the leaders in this world, so to speak (which doesn’t imply, of course, that a woman as such at the top automatically makes the world better). By the way, there are also female dominated religions; Pacha Mama (Mother Earth) in the Quechua culture, for example.
I am afraid, that the Dutch politicians (and electorate) are not much wiser. In October we’ll have elections. Let’s see what will happen.
Best wishes and have a good weekend.
