    I think he would still agree in view of Trump in the USA, Marine Le Pen in France and Geert Wilders in the Netherlands. In fact, Tarde paraphrased Étienne de La Boétie (1530-1562), "The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude", a booklet still popular and influential in France (and hardly outside France).
