An advice
Crates of Thebes (365-285 BC) to his wife Hipparchia
of Maroneia ( c. 350 – c. 280 BC), who had given birth to their child:
When he begins to
walk and talk, fit him not out with a sword … but with a staff, a cloak and a
knapsack, which can give better protection against people than swords.
